Frequently asked questions
- How does a UPI QR code work?
- It encodes your UPI ID (and optionally an amount and note) in the standard upi://pay format. When scanned in any UPI app — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM — it opens a pre-filled payment to you.
- Do I need to enter an amount?
- No. Leave the amount blank and the payer types it in — ideal for a shop counter. Add a fixed amount for a specific bill or product.
- Is this an official UPI / NPCI QR code?
- It uses the same upi://pay deep-link format UPI apps understand, generated entirely in your browser. For high-volume merchant use you may also want a verified QR from your bank or payment provider.
- Is my UPI ID sent to a server?
- No. The code is built on your device and nothing is uploaded. Remember that anyone who scans it can pay that UPI ID, so display it where that is intended.
- Why is my payment QR not opening an app?
- UPI codes only work on devices with a UPI app installed (primarily in India). On a phone without one, the code simply will not resolve.
